Jakeana Paul

Jakeana Paul is a native of Forsyth County. She was born in Winston- Salem and is a graduate of Mount Tabor High School. After high school, she obtained a dual degree in Sociology and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In 2018 she earned her Juris Doctorate Degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law. While in Law School she externed with the Juvenile Defense Clinic in Durham County. Her Legal Career began as an Assistant District Attorney in Guilford County. She served in that position for 4 years. During her time as an Assistant District Attorney, she prosecuted Defendants charged with serious misdemeanors including assault, property, and DWI offenses. Among other duties, she served for 1 year as a Juvenile Court Prosecutor in Greensboro.

Further, she served as the Internship Supervisor of 2nd Year (2L) & 3rd Year (3L) Law School students. Prior to leaving the Guilford County District Attorney’s Office, she was prosecuting probation matters and felony property matters. As evident in her work history, Ms. Paul has a strong passion for litigation, substantial trial experience and is equipped with knowledge of criminal procedure, especially as it relates to how cases are prosecuted in the Criminal Justice system.

Ms. Paul is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and the Forsyth County Bar Association. In 2019, she was awarded by Black Business Inc, as one of the 40 Under 40 Most Influential African Americans in the Triad. Her passion is serving in her the community. She is a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church where she volunteers with the Food Pantry Ministry.
